Dive with us!

Our customers meet at the boat in the Tutukaka marina, at 8:30, where you are introduced to the Captain and crew. A safety briefing will take place on our way out to the Poor Knights Islands. Our dive crew will discuss the day's dive schedule with you. Your dive experience and dive preferences will be taken into account when deciding our first dive destination. We will have a surface interval of approximately an hour and a half; we will have lunch and start a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the Islands.

Our skipper will share his vast experience of the Poor Knights as we tour the many islands which make up the Poor Knights group. We expect to return to Tutukaka at approximately 3:30pm.

Skipper & Owner

Crayzee Diver is owned and operated by Captain Bruce Dow. Bruce was born in Auckland, New Zealand. He has been diving the waters of the Poor Knights for over twenty five years.

Bruce has been a qualified sea Captain for over twenty five years, working for New Zealand's largest shipping company, The Union Steamship Company for over 15 years. He has also skippered many Commercial Fishing boats in the waters around New Zealand. The Dive Poor Knights company only runs one vessel which means you get the most experienced skipper in the area. Bruce loves to showcase the area to his divers.

Our Boat

Crayzee Diver is an 11.2m/ 37.5ft custom built dive boat. The boat was built to and is maintained under the New Zealand maritime safety authority (no. 1059410. The name Crayzee Diver was derived from our area's crayfish (lobster) population.

Is's crewed by a fun, friendly and professional crew where diver safety and comfort is paramount. Amenities include toilet, washbasin area with a marine toilet, and large diving ladder with a full width dive platform at sea level. All trips include tea, coffee and soup.

Crayzee Diver is docked at the Tutukaka Marina D1 on the Tutukaka Coast, which is twenty minutes drive from Whangarei. The Tutukaka Coast offers a multitude of restaurants, accommodation, etc. We provide diving at the Poor Knights and wreck diving. Custom charter and group discounts are also available.

What to bring

It is essential that you bring your certification card and if possible your dive log book as our crew will happily update and stamp it with you.

Weather

The weather in our area can be unpredictable and our skipper will make the final decision based on safety and if the weather will allow for an enjoyable trip. Any cancellation by Dive Poor Knights will incur a full refund or reschedule, whichever is your choice.
